My young kids are constantly collecting treasures, which they each store in a variety of small tins and boxes in their nightstands. I am frequently surprised and delighted by the items they consider worthy: a curled, brown leaf that used to be red, an acorn hat, a blue glass bead, a tiny pink LEGO flower, a sparkly white rock. When I have an opportunity to sit one-on-one with them, I sometimes ask them to show me their treasures; they love to tell me what’s important to them, and I love to find out what the world looks like through their eyes. “Collecting Treasures” features green and neutral tones and my grid theme on an exaggerated scale, layered with a circle/dot motif.

36x36” acrylic and collage (fabric and paper) on gallery-wrapped canvas, sealed with satin varnish. Sides are white and hanging hardware is installed on the back.
