In June 2025, I refurbished an old storage shed on our family farm. With a nod to the traditional barn quilt, I selected a Lakota quilt pattern called the morning star. It symbolizes wisdom and understanding, and sometimes also signifies the four stages of life (infancy, childhood, adulthood, and old age) and the four cardinal directions. I painted the morning star in my own modern, gritty style in shades of red and blue to complement our beautiful red barn, and it is a truly beautiful addition to our farm!
