I worked on “Galaxy Plaid” at the time when I first saw the incredible new views of space resulting from NASA’s James Webb telescope. The human effort behind the telescope itself fills me with awe and appreciation: the brilliance of the people who created this amazing technology, the faith to continue despite all the ways it could have gone wrong, and the persistence required to see it through. And of course the images are stunningly beautiful and a humbling reminder of how small and temporary we are. I worked to reflect the excitement and reverence I felt when seeing these fantastical, dream-like scenes from space.

34x26” acrylic, fabric/paper collage, pastels, and wax crayons on gallery-wrapped canvas, sealed with satin varnish. Sides are painted and hanging hardware is installed on the back.
